Badgers – how can we help you ?

Badgers, Meles meles, are members of the weasel family, but unlike other members of this group of animals they are remarkably social creatures living together in families or clans.

Badgers have, and continue to suffer from persecution by baiters who attack badger setts in order to ‘bait’ the badgers against their dogs. This cruel activity leads to the death of badgers and the dogs, and is illegal under United Kingdom legislation. The Protection of Badgers Act 1992 affords badgers and their setts full protection, whether deliberate or reckless.

Not everyone who can potentially fall foul of the law does so because they have an evil intent. Many developers find themselves committing a crime through lack of awareness of the legislation and of badger behaviour, something we can help with. We have many years of experience of working with badgers, undertaking surveys for a variety of types of project, from small housing developments to major road schemes. With over fifteen years experience of helping to conserve badgers we can help you find solutions that allow badgers to thrive in our countryside.
